Dr. Vanessa Thomas is Board Certified by the American Board of Family Medicine and has been in practice for 14 years. She finished undergraduate at Xavier University in New Orleans and graduated from Meharry Medical College in May, 2000. She then finished her residency in Family Medicine at LSUHSC in Lafayette, LA. She received her MBA from Auburn University in 2015. Dr. Thomas has worked in the community health center setting providing continuity of care and overseeing many administrative duties. Dr. Thomas has a background in traditional family medicine, urgent care and emergency medicine.
She is a supporter of continuing education at all levels because it provides opportunities for personal and professional growth, life-long learning at its best. She is passionate in prevention, wellness, and total patient care “from the womb to the tomb” to improve the quality of life. Her philosophy of the practice of medicine is deeply rooted in the principles of agape love, demonstrated by Jesus. This is the highest form of love between deity and mankind, expressing love in spite of. At Thomas Family, patients will find a place of compassionate care, peace and love.
Candice Nelson, MSN, APRN, FNP-C
Candice Nelson is a board certified Family Nurse Practitioner through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. She completed her undergraduate studies at The University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa with a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing in 2011. She went on to excel in her nursing career specializing in emergency medicine before enrolling in graduate school. Candice graduated Magna Cum Lade from The University of South Alabama in 2016 with a Master’s of Science in Nursing.
She is deeply rooted in this community having been raised in Baldwin County her entire life. Providing patient-centered, quality care to the citizens of this area is of her upmost priority. Candice also prides herself in being a wife and mother. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, going to church, and enjoying the beaches of the Gulf Coast.
